Knife Skills Class with Bill | Thursday September 10th

KNIFE SKILLS CLASS
DATE: Thursday, September 10th, 2026
TIME:  6:30-8:30pm
WHERE: The Knife Stop on the 2nd floor of Kerrytown Market & Shops
410 N 4th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Learn the basics of knife skills in this interactive class with 4 other students.

The Chef knife is arguably the most important tool in the kitchen and knowing how to use it efficiently and safely will add another level of enjoyment and confidence to your cooking skills. Even sizes of cuts are important when you want the ingredients in a recipe to cook at the same rate, as well as affecting the texture, taste, and balance of foods.

For this class, join our knife specialist, Bill, as he guides you through the basics of slicing, dicing, chopping and cutting the ingredients for a fresh and flavorful Pico de Gallo!

Please note our general policies below before signing up for a class.

  • Food Allergy / Dietary Restriction Policy:If you have any dietary restrictions, please ask if they can be accommodated before registering for a class. We cannot guarantee that chefs will be able to make last-minute changes or cook separate portions for special needs.

  • 10% Discount - Each student receives a 10% discount to use on the day/evening of your class. You are encouraged to scout earlier in the day if you need several things so that you don’t run out of time on break as we don’t want classes to run late into the evening. May not apply to sale items, and some brand exclusions may apply due to vendor agreements. If it’s a children’s class, the parents may use the 10% discount on the day of class!

  • Arrival Policy:Please arrive up to 20 minutes prior to class, with classes beginning promptly at start time. All classes will take place at The Knife Stop, 410 N 4th Avenue on the 2nd floor of Kerrytown Market & Shops. Please enter the building near the elevator and a team member will let you into the building if needed (usually Sunday morning classes.)

  • Low Enrollment: Classes must have students registered in order for the class to be held. We reserve the right to cancel any class with low enrollment. Should this occur, the student will receive cooking credits for a future class or a refund to the original payment method.

  • Cancellations: Take into consideration that purchasing a class is similar to purchasing a ticket for a sporting event or concert. No refunds will be issued if you buy a ticket and cannot attend the class for some reason. If you cannot make the class, consider regifting the class to someone who would enjoy it! If re-gifting, please call 734-780-7087.
    • If an instructor is unable to teach due to illness or any other reason, the class will be canceled and treated similarly to a low-enrollment cancellation. The Kitchen Loft, LLC will promptly notify all registered students and offer them the option to transfer their credit to a future class or receive a full refund.

  • Inherent Risk Policy: Participation in our classes places you in a typical cooking environment with inherent risk. By registering for a class, you agree to release The Kitchen Loft, LLC and its staff, employees, and contractors (Chefs/Instructors) from any liability arising from direct or indirect damages or injury. All participants with dietary or health related issues must inform us prior to registering for a class to ensure the instructor’s recipes can be modified. All participants hold The Kitchen Loft, LLC harmless in the event of a health issue related to the preparation or consumption of food used during the classes.

  • Parking: Metered parking is available in the Farmer’s Market lot, Kerrytown Market & Shops lot and at the parking structure on Ashley St. Please follow all parking meter rules and regulations to avoid any tickets. The mobileePark Ann Arbor app makes it easy to pay for parking. Parking is free after 6 pm and on Sundays, which is when the majority of our classes take place.

  • Attire Policy:We require that you wear close-toed shoes while in attendance of our cooking classes for safety reasons. Long hair must be tied back. Aprons will be provided by The Kitchen Loft, LLC. Comfortable clothing and footwear are suggested as many of our classes will include a long period of time standing, as you would at your kitchen counter.

  • Age Limits: Minor students must be 14 years of age or older (unless specifically agreed to an exception in advance) to participate in adult classes and must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is also present in the class. Some classes can accommodate children younger than 14, but this must be pre-approved. There will not be any age exceptions made for Knife Skills or Knife Sharpening classes.
