KNIFE SHARPENING CLASS

Learn the basics of sharpening your knives at home
in this interactive class with 4 other students.

While most people understand that it's important to have a sharp knife for safety and ease of use, fewer people know how to maintain their blades at home, in between professional sharpening sessions.

While most people understand that it's important to have a sharp knife for safety and ease of use, fewer people know how to maintain their blades at home, in between professional sharpening sessions.

For this class, join Brandon, as he guides you in the basics of sharpening, from what it means for a knife to be "sharp" as opposed to "sharpened", what the sharpening process achieves, and how to maintain your knives at home using Sharpal stones.

Students are asked to bring 1-2 (non-serrated) culinary knives from home to sharpen, a 6-8” chef or santoku knife being the most important, as well as a paring, utility or other straight edge knife. We may have donated knives available to practice on, but these are limited in availability. German steel is preferred in over Asian high carbon to simplify the learning process. Class flow and time will determine whether we get to the 2nd blade.

Sharpening supplies for class are provided for use and are available for purchase after class or on break, at a 10% discount.
